Be My Guest!

When it comes to your guest list, things can be tricky. With expectations running high and the budget maybe not so, just how do you manage to please Uncle Tom Coblers and all, avoid a family crisis and keep your budget in check?

While we can't wave a magic wand, we can certainly aim to help make the process easier. Check out our online gift list and member budget calculator in our member area http://www.mrs2be.com/belladonna-registration.php

Here also are a few of our hints and tips that may help:

Set a rule that if you've not seen a friend (long standing excepted) for over 6 months, consider inviting them as an evening guest only, especially if you really could have made the effort to meet up

Try not to feel under pressure from family members, explain your reasons for wanting to stick to your numbers and ask them to respect your decision

If guests are expecting children to be invited and there are none in the wedding party itself, set another rule inviting adults only

When inviting newish partners of friends consider inviting them to the evening reception only, even if the friend is attending during the day as well

Gold Wedding Rings Making A Comeback

Over recent years silver, white gold and platinum have become an increasingly popular choice for wedding and engagement rings. 2010 however will see gold making a come back and in fact becoming a hot trend for this year and it is said for many years to come.

It is said that two tone bands incorporating a diamond as well as gold bands with Celtic designs will be among the most popular choices. Experts say that alongside diamonds, gold jewelery will remain forever fashionable. Celtic bands are hand crafted and therefore considered a work of art. These rings can be personalised with your own choice of design, often making them a popular and romantic choice.

So which colour metal is best and which will stand the trend test of time? This is a tricky one and the answer is that the choice has to be yours. Just as wedding rings in recent years have been increasingly silver in colour, so too has much of the modern jewelery, however gold is still more common and is also set to make a come back in all types of jewelery this year.

Consider then not the changing trends of the catwalk but instead follow your heart (and your jewellery box!) and go with whichever YOU are more likely to wear. A wedding ring should reflect your personality and style and after all, a wedding ring is not just for the big day... a wedding ring is for life! Our advice then is simply that whatever your preference choose carefully.

Can you Pinch an Inch?

With Christmas behind us and the 2010 wedding planning season underway, it's time for those of us getting married this year (and indeed the rest of us!) to start considering getting rid of a few extra pounds.

Loosing weight is rarely easy and in our experience it helps to have inspiration from others, so what better place to find this than the Mrs2Be Face Book pages. The members of the Mrs2Be office have all pledged to try and loose at least half a stone before the summer and will be keeping you updated on how we are going each week.

We would love to hear from you whether you are struggling and need inspiration or whether you are a shining example for us all to follow. Be it weight watchers, slimming world or a new funky diet, send us your thoughts and experiences and may the best diet win! In the meantime, check out our health and fitness pages for ideas on how to shape up for the big day by clicking the following link - http://www.mrs2be.com/lose-weight-for-your-wedding.php

Cash Please!

As more and more couples choose to ask for cash as an alternative to a traditional wedding gift, Mrs2Be has been exploring some of the more subtle ways to do this. These days many couples are choosing to marry later, have already lived together or simply dread the thought of receiving six toasters and a dozen sets of towels!

In our view, the best way to ask for cash is to do this is in the invitation as this is the traditional place to direct guests to your chosen wedding gifts. It has become usual for couples to include an additional information sheet giving details of anything from wedding directions, menu choices and gift request within a wedding invitation. In the main, gone are the days when it was thought rude to send details of a gift list or to ask for cash, so just how do you go about approaching the subject? Here are some of our suggestions:

Simply ask outright - Be honest and tell the guests your reasons as they will probably appreciate your honesty

Use a wedding savings scheme - Many travel agents are now offering a system where guests can pay a sum of money towards your honeymoon. This isn't strictly asking for cash but it does free up cash that you may have otherwise used for the honeymoon so in our view, it's as good as!

Incorporate the request in a poem - You will find plenty of examples of these on the Internet.

Ask for vouchers - Again, these are a good alternative to cash and choosing vouchers for DIY or travel are sure to free up some of your funds that would otherwise be eaten up in the future. Don't forget to check for expiry dates on any vouchers that you receive
