Your Invitation to a Royal Wedding

So it is to be Friday 29th of April 2011 at Westminster Abbey! I wonder how much involvement Kate & William will actually have in this afterall that is only 5 months away and this is no ordinary wedding!

It will be interesting to see just how "modern day" this young couple are in their choices. Obviously a lot of what they do will be governed by royal tradition, but I suspect we will see some breaks with tradition from them too.

I also wonder how many other couples will rush to book their wedding on the same day, or whether it will have the opposite affect.

I for one am going to bag my place on the sofa with drinks and nibbles to hand so I don't have to miss a thing!

How exciting - a young Royal Wedding - just want the country needs right now!

Danni Minogue & Kris Smith - are they or aren't they?

The Mail on Sunday reported on Sunday 14th November 2011 that Danii Minogue's rather hunky partner and father of her new baby Ethan, had proposed to her - over the phone!

OK - so distance would have been an x-factor (do you like what I did there?) with him being in Australia and Danni and baby Ethan being in the UK but still - over the phone?? Come on!

As it happens, the Australian has alledgedly denied this over twitter (this is getting worse!) by tweeting

"Sorry guys but reports are incorrect we have not got engaged especially not over the phone....."

Now I have no idea whether they are or they aren't but it brought me to wondering - how romantic was your wedding proposal?

Come on - share it with us - we love a good romantic story - or a good giggle whichever applies!

Wedding in a Tent from Event in a Tent

Oh the romance! Seriously - you have to go see this beautiful Tipi in the flesh to get the sense of romance it brings. I have been lucky enough to see her fully dressed with a mix of wooden tables and benches on one side, a (all important) bar on the other with a scattering of comfortable chairs and sofas. And, the pièce de résistance (for extra romance) the fire pit!

This tipi is based on the traditional tipis of the Sami people from Lapland and is owned by Niamh & Matt who decided to set up their business following the organising of their own wedding.
Event in a Tent are based in the beautiful town of Llangollen in North Wales.

You can decorate it with pretty bunting - our favourite being by The Bunting Queen (for hire from just £1.50 a metre!) and wrap pretty fairy lights around the wooden polework.

For more information and to check out even more fabulous photos visit www.event-in-a-tent.co.uk.

Be inspired at Christmas time!

We are very firm believers in getting inspiration for your big day from many different sources from Fashion to interior design. What we really really love about this time of year is that all the sparkly interesting decorative bits come out and are everywhere!

Yes we know it is only October - but all of the November magazine issues are now out and contain a whole host of Christmas decorations.

So our advice to all our lovely Mrs2Be's is to not only reach for the bridal magazines at this time of year (Wedding Ideas being our favourite!), but also reach for those lovely bumpscious Christmassy house magazines!

Just flicking through the pages fills us here with a warm fuzzy venue dressing feeling! From rich sumptuous purples, golds and teals to the more funky pinks, lime greens and electric blues.

You will even find things that would not be out of place on your wedding tables whatever time of year you are getting married. For example these bauble style numbered place card holders from Cox and Cox

Colour Beautiful

We really love the colour schemes that are around at the moment but don't be afraid to take it that one step further and introduce coloured table linen and coloured glassware to your theme.

This particular example uses coloured plates, bowls and wine goblets with cobalt blue as the main colour and hot pink as the accent colour - great for a summer wedding!

Nicky from Sugared & Spiced Venue Dressing says "More and more couples are introducing coloured fabric to their tables in the form of the tablecloth itself and not just the napkins though if that is a step too far for you then coloured napkins are a very effective way of injecting a shot of colour to the proceedings!"

We asked Nicky which colours are looking strong this Autumn/Winter and she tell us "Purple is still a big winner this season. It is still highly popular in fashion and interiors so it is naturally highly popular in the dressing of wedding venues too. Purple is such a rich vibrant colour with "Cadbury Purple" being the most sought after shade. Teal is another popular choice and is such a lovely colour to team up with other rich colours such as cobalt blue. Again, this is a great choice for the Autumn/Winter season. One of my favourite looks is using Peacock feathers with strong atmospheric purple, green or blue. So regal too!" For information on Sugared & Spiced's venue dressing service go to www.sugaredandspiced.co.uk.

So, what colours are you going for? Are you brave enough to use coloured glassware or table linen?

For more inspiration check our our wedding colour schemes pages. Good Luck & Happy Planning ♥

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Out of the Blue

Weddings are becoming more and more personalised with couples choosing to move away from the traditional or at least tweak it.

If the groom's best friend is a woman - who is to say he cannot have a Best Gal rather than a Best Man? There are many of us who sadly no longer have our father - so why not have your Mum give you away?

Other popular breaks with tradition are rather than sitting on a top table along with 10 other members of your family, why not have a romantic table for two? This would actually give you and your new hubby the chance to have a conversation and reflect on the day so far. Or - you could have a round or oval top table.

Wedding Days are becoming Wedding Weekends - more and more couples are making their big day last longer by spanning it over 2 days rather than just the one. We think this is a lovely idea particularly when you have relatives and friends that live further afield and who you rarely see. Wedding days take so much planning with some brides starting 2 years before and the actual day itself goes so quickly that making it a 2 day event gives you more time to relax, enjoy and take in the whole thing.

Friday's top wedding tip

It's that time again! And today's top tip is.................... Tiaras & Head dresses.

Make sure you wear your tiara or your head dress before the big day around the house for a while to see whether it is comfortable. They can sometimes become painful after a while as can tightly pulled hair dos. So be sure to put some painkillers in your 'emergency pack'. You wouldn't want something as small as this to ruin your day.

The Icing's firmly back on the Cake!

Local couple Meg Denton & James Meason found themselves £350 out of pocket and cake-less when long established local bakery Ecclestons went into administration this month.

Luckily a Knight in shining armour came to their rescue in the form of Andrew Caron, who runs Cascade Designer Cakes in Mold. Andrew contacted the local newspaper when he read about the couple's plight the week before.

So, Meg & James now have a 3 tier wedding cake in time for their big day on 21st of August 2010!

It must also be said, that the previous owner of Ecclestons did give the couple their money back. Ecclestons has been a long established employer in the town of Wrexham so we would like to send out our best wishes to the owners and former employees of the company for a brighter future.

And we would also like to send a big Mrs2Be well done to Andrew Caron of Cascade Designer Cakes in Mold.

And of course our very best wishes to Meg & James for a wonderful wedding day this weekend!

Can I Get Married Outside?

Today I had a conversation with a bride who wanted to get married in a marquee which is not possible I'm afraid - so I thought I would share the rules regarding licenced premises with you.

A civil licence can be granted on a room or a structure that has fixed walls and a fixed roof.

So for example, some wedding venues have wooden gazebos or summer houses in their grounds, and these can be licenced. The law states that the Registrars, Bride, Groom and the witnesses must be standing within the structure during the ceremony. The guests however, can be stood in the surrounding grounds.

The example shown here is of the gazebo in the grounds of The Cross Lanes Hotel, Marchwiel, Wrexham. On a nice day the garden can be set up for the ceremony though if the heavens look set to open, the hotel will simply set the ceremony room up inside instead.

Don't talk to anyone, don't do any titivating, just step back, watch, breathe, listen - and enjoy!

Have a great weekend! ♥

Don't get caught out with the VAT change

Eurgh - none of us like to think about the cost of getting married but I feel it is my duty as your friendly online wedding planner, to remind you of the impending changes to the VAT rate and what that may mean to your wedding budget.

First the boring facts:

The standard of vat will rise from 17.5% to 20% on the 4th of January 2011. Any goods or services purchased on or after 4th January 2011 that are subject to VAT, will be charged for at 20% vat.

What does this mean to you?

It means that any of your suppliers who are VAT registered will have to increase the VAT on their goods or services if you have not paid them before 4th of January 2011. A vast number of wedding industry businesses are small - as is the nature of the industry, but you need to go through your list of suppliers and check their quotes, or give them a ring to find out if they are VAT registered.

Once you have done this, go back to your wedding budget calculator or spreadsheet and work out how much more it will cost you if you have to pay the higher rate of VAT to any of your suppliers.

Remember not all goods are subject to VAT so don't guess - ask the question of your suppliers.

Now you should have a true idea of how much more your wedding may cost you if you have to pay your bill after the rate change.

This would be my personal plan of action:

Contact your suppliers and ask them whether they will offer you a discount if you make payment prior to the 4th of January 2011.

If the answer to this is "No" then or if your wedding is still a long way off and you want added protection, providing you have credit card offering 0% on purchases, pay these suppliers by credit card.

However, if you do chose this route you must be very very strict with yourself when it comes to paying it off.

Don't forget if you have to use one credit card that doesn't apply a 0% interest rate to purchases, you and you then apply for a 0% credit card, factor in the administration fee to get a true cost.

For more information on the best credit cards available on the market visit:

www.moneysavingexpert.com
www.moneysupermarket.com

I advise this option with great caution. If you are not the best with money - then my advice would be to take the 2.5% hit as if you don't pay off your credit card, it will cost you a lot more in the long term!

And remember to take out wedding insurance - just in case any of your suppliers leave you high and dry!!!

Happy Planning ♥

Wedding Lingerie - What to wear with which dress

Oh I heard a terrible story today from my beauty therapist as I lay on the couch having hair ripped out by their roots! (I won't divulge any more than that - I am too much of a lady!).

Apparently she has had brides who have been willing spend thousands on their dresses and their flowers etc but then 'made do' with bog standard undies (excuse the pun).

No no no - girls - that is sacrilege!

So - here is a fabulous article all about chosing the right wedding lingerie for the right dress and body shape.

So - put down the pack of 3 and step away from the shelf until you have read this article.

Wish Tree Cards

If you are planning on having a wish tree at your wedding reception - then why not send out the wish tree cards to your guests with their invitations, and a short explanation what they are for.

This way your guests can give thought and time to writing the lovliest message to you and your bethrothed rather than rushing to think of something on the spur of the moment.

They can then bring their cards with them and hang them on your wish tree. We would however suggest you have some spares at the ready for any guests who may have forgotten to bring theirs with them!

Top Tip when Buying in Advance

As with many brides, you may well chose some elements for your wedding a long way in advance. One such example was a bride who recently went to pick up her wedding veil 2 days before her big day, as arranged only to find it was not as she remembered it.

The shop were adamant that it was the veil she chose. The bride felt compelled to take it and pay the £40 price tag but then spent the next couple of hours trying to track down an alternative as she could not rest happy with this particular veil.

So - Mrs2Be's top tip is - if you find yourself in this situation - picking items for you big day a long way in advance, take a photo of it so that you have something to compare it to and not just rely on your memory and the word of the supplier.

Barn Wedding Venues

The country wedding theme is still highly popular and barns complement this beautifully. So - here is an article about barn wedding venues including some barn wedding venues in North Wales and Cheshire.

Haunted Wedding Venue Anyone?

Have you ever fancied getting married in a haunted wedding venue? If so - then check out these little beauties - courtesy of the I Am Staggered team:

As if all the usual trials and tribulations of a wedding aren’t enough, the idea of romance between some couples extends as far as marrying in the presence of not only both friends and family, but meddlesome ghosts. Many of the top wedding venues across the UK make no secret of their haunted roots, and the possibility of a spectre, poltergeist or other disrupting the buffet or goosing the bridesmaids. Here’s a selection of the spookiest venues with the weirdest ghosts available.
Happy Wedding Day!

Comlongon Castle

The closest castle to the romantic getaway of Gretna Green, the rich history of this castle has given heed to a disruptive spirit simply commonly known as ‘the ghost’. Marrien Catheurs is her actual name, and she leapt from the castle after being held captive in 1570, possibly out of distress, potentially as part of some sort of medieval insurance scam gone awry.

Chillingham Castle

The Chillingham Castle website is quite proud of it’s genuinely impressive range of ghosts, having seen a record eight executions. Its inhabitants supposedly include a blue boy, a tortured child, Lady Mary and even a whole procession. At Chillingham, it is statistically proven a guest is more likely to accidentally chat up a ghost than at any other venue in the UK.

Amberley Castle

Regarded as one of the finest hotels in England, you could probably employ Bill Murray personally to “bust” a ghost and bring him to your own wedding in a community centre for the cost of marrying at Amberley. Its ghost is the elusive Emily, a tragic young lady rejected by a priest who got her pregnant who then chose to leap from the castle’s walls. Bet she’s a right laugh.

Prestbury House

Located in the dead centre of the UK’s most notoriously haunted village, the locale sees visits from the undead of such variety, a political party spin doctor would take the prime minister for a photo in the graveyard. Resident haunters include a hooded monk, a horse and a beautiful servant girl. If they fail to materialise at the reception, why not organise an impromptu drunken village ritual?! It’s just what the locals love.

Boys Hall

Ashford’s Boys Hall is another venue trading on its spooky reputation to promote weddings and events, which is reputedly one of the most haunted venues in the country. Well, reputedly according to the company. There’s an awful lot of these most haunted venues it seems… No disrespect to the ghosts at Boys, mind, we’re just trying to be sensible.

Tutbury Castle

Staffordshire’s Tutbury Castle is very proud of its haunted heritage, offering popular ghost tours throughout the year and being the only venue in the UK that specialises in medieval midnight weddings. Tutbury’s ghosts are a curious lot consisting of a ‘little old woman who hides keys’, a distressed child, and for a bit of light relief, even a little drummer boy ghost, who’ll bang out a rhythm for your delectation. Whilst you’re trying to sleep.

Muncaster Castle

Although it’s seemingly more keen to promote itself to prospective newlyweds on the back of its large collection of owls and grandiose gardens, Muncaster is one of the UK’s most haunted venues. 12 years of ’serious research’ have failed to explain some of the bizzare phenomenon witnessed in the Tapestry Room, where up to 6 people can book to stay and hold their own mini-vigil. The reported ghosts at Muncaster do sound like a fairly horrible lot – they include an evil jester (read: clown), and the sound of unseen crying babies often echo through the halls of the house.

Hazelwood Castle

Having been around since the Doomsday book, it’s unsurprising that Hazelwood has it’s fair share of somewhat unhappy haunts. Just outside of Leeds, the main provocateurs of the dead include mysteriously crying babies (again!), and a rather smug sounding hooded monk character, who’s main trick is to show how he can walk into rooms, but never out. Yeah, well, I’ve got an iPhone.

Cardiff Castle

Often the source of ridicule amongst historians for being built after the period in which medieval castles can be taken seriously, Cardiff’s ‘castle’ nonetheless has its fair share of recorded ghost activity, and as a newer castle, seemingly has it on an acute timer. At precisely 3:45am heavy doors open and shut by themselves and the lights flash on and off. Very efficient work by Cardiff’s ghosts.

Salem, US

If you’ve got the time, money and resources, there’s no greater place for a haunt loving couple to wed then Salem, Massachusetts. Home of a string of particularly brutal witch trials in the early 1690s, Salem is now a magnet for ghosts and ghost lovers alike, a rich mix of creaky history and tacky, tacky gift shops. The top wedding venue is The House of Seven Gables, New England’s oldest mansion, and a prime spot for pure Yankee ghosting.

Katie Price to Wed in English Country Garden Style!

I have to be honest, I would never imagine the phrase "English Country Garden" alongside "Katie Price & Alex Reid" but allegedly the pair are to wed again this summer following was is reported to have been a non-legally binding wedding in Las Vegas early this year.

The couple are said to be planning a marquee wedding full of all that is quintessentially English, such as cupcakes, and maybe some bunting oh and how about some beautiful vintage crockery?

Pink is said to be off the agenda though (the colour - not the Rock Goddess) - so that will certainly mark a change from all her previous nuptials!

Well - I think Katie & Alex need to get some expert advice from my friends Sugared and Spiced and Outback Marquees - pulling off an English country wedding theme looks so easy - but it is not as easy as it looks - at least - not if you want to do it well.

Fancy your Wedding in a Country House?

What I love about this part of the world - is that there are so many beautiful country houses tucked away and many of them now offer you the chance to get married in them and even make them your own for a day.

Some can even offer accommodation. We think that this is a wonderful alternative to a hotel wedding - the only problem is going to be choosing one out of the many available!

So we have put a couple of them HERE on the main website for you to help you on your way!

Royles Venue Dressers Close for Business

Royles Venue Dressers who were based in Cheshire were forced to close for business during the early part of 2010 due to the pressures that the current economic climate has put onto the wedding industry.

Nicky of Sugared and Spiced Venue Dressers says "Couples are being forced to search for the absolute cheapest price for the services they require on their big day and the corporate market has tightened its purse strings by cutting back on the number of events they would normally host in a year. Hopefully as the economy improves this situation will change, but certainly for the time being, it is a very very competitive market place."

Royles have taken action to ensure their clients are still looked after but it certainly highlights that there are certain steps couples should take to give themselves as much protection as possible. Our top tips would be:

  • Pay for as much as you can on your credit card which you then pay off as this gives you insurance should the company you pay not deliver the goods or service you have paid for.
  • Get everything in writing, your order confirmation, your payment confirmation, the price and exactly what they are providing you with.
  • Wherever possible go of recommendations from others who have used the service previously.
  • Take out wedding insurance to cover any unforseen circumstances that may arise though check your policy documents very carefully to ensure you are fully covered. Do some research online about the insurance company you intend to use.

Two Sides of the Atlantic, 2 Celebs, 1 Wedding, 1 Divorce

Mariah Carey has had her third wedding to hubby Nick Cannon! The couple are reported to have celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary by renewing their wedding vows for the second time! (well, a girl can never get enough of wearing a wedding dress). The couple originally tied the knot in 2008 in a surprise wedding in the Bahamas.

Now - on the reverse side of the coin, our very own Patsy Kensit is reported to be getting divorced for the 4th time. The very beautiful Patsy has had a rough time of marriage having been divorced from Dan Donovan, Jim Kerr and Liam Gallagher and now DJ Jeremy Healy and all at just 42! Phew!

We wish her the very best for future happiness!

Trash the Dress or Rock the Frock

There is a rise in the phenomena that is "Trash the Dress" or "Rock the Frock" (I prefer the latter description) - but what exactly is it?

Allegedly started in 2001 "Trash the Dress" is an opportunity to get some really great edgy photographs of you in your wedding dress in settings that are in complete contrast to everything that a wedding dress symbolises.

When you think of a wedding dress you think of delicacy, and finery but place this in a setting that exudes harshness, rough terrain, mud and more and it is like putting salt on your cup cake!

But, it can be extremely artistic and produce some stunning photos though it is not for the feint hearted! If your wedding dress as a possession is important and you plan on keeping it for future generations, you may not want to go down this route!

Choose your photographer carefully - one of our favourites is Jose of J Cardoso Fotography. Jose's work is urban, contemporary and edgy as you can see from the photograph shown here. But don't take my word for it - go on over to J Cardoso Fotography and see for yourself.

Wish Trees - Hire Yours Today

I love these as an alternative to the more traditional guest book. Not only do they look beautiful but they really get your guests involved. Each one is handmade.

Our sister company Sugared and Spiced can create a wish tree to suit your specific requirements and wedding theme and colours. To make life a little easier - there are a couple of package options available for you to view on the sugared and spiced website.

This particular example is a natural wood wish tree but they also come in white & silver as standard and can be created in a specific colour for a small additional fee.

Volcanic Ash Causing Honeymoon & Wedding Chaos

Many couples have found themselves in the terrible position of being left unable to travel to their wedding or honeymoon destination because of the erupting volcano in Iceland which has grounded planes to and from the UK due to the volcanic ash in the air.

Some couples have spent 12 - 18 months planning their big day only to have it quashed by something they could never ever have planned for as this situation is unheard of in the UK before.

One lucky couple however, were able to beat mother nature by exchanging their wedding vows via webcam. The couple Sean and Nathalie Murtagh were stranded in Dubai while 100 wedding guests waited in the UK. The hotel they were staying out pulled out all of the stops by arranging the live link, a stunning wedding cake and even a red carpet. The groom even borrowed his wedding outfit from other guests.

However, before you all go thinking this could be a great way forward - the couple we already legally married! They had planned a replica wedding back in the UK which is what they were on their way back for.

Let's hope the wind of change is upon us so that all our couples can enjoy their honeymoons and destination weddings as planned.

Who Says The Welsh are Un-Romantic?

The Welsh Lovelies Gavin Henson and Charlotte Church are officially engaged and I for one think Charlotte looks absolutely fabulous. Gavin doesn't look half bad either though!

But oh how romantic was the proposal? Gavin whisked Charlotte of in his boss' helicopter on her birthday to the Nare Hotel in Truro. The couple enjoyed a "lush" lunch (Charlotte's words - not mine!) and then embarked on a romantic walk on the beach where Gavin popped the question.

Not only that - but he had managed to order and pay for a beautiful heart shaped diamond ring while the couple were on holiday in Dubai without Charlotte knowing.

And they are not planning on hanging about either - the couple apparently plan to marry this year. Good luck Gavin & Charlotte and best wishes for the future.

Brynkinalt Hall - Venue of the Month

Brynkinalt Hall is a beautiful stately home owned by the Trevor-Hill family which is nestled in the estate's parklands in Chirk, Near Wrexham.

Personally I feel this wedding venue is one of North Wales' best kep secrets! So, I decided to make it Venue of the Month for April 2010!

You can relish the grandeur of this beautiful house as you sweep down the main staircase of the Great Hall in your wedding dress - it really is picture postcard stuff.

Click HERE and see for yourself by visiting our main website and reading all about Brynkinalt Hall as a Wedding Venue.

Will They, Won't They?

Announce their engagement we mean! Who? Why who else, Prince William & Kate Middleton of course!

Though if Jan Moir of the Daily Mail is to be believed, then the answer to that is no - at least - certainly not on the weekend it was rumoured to be happening because Prince William is a little busy that weekend as is The Queen.

A Royal Wedding would be so lovely and just what the country needs to lift the mood - personally I feel we are riding on a crest of a patriotic wave right and this would be cherry on the cake.

Not only that but Vintage is so in this year and how lovely would it be to see a vintaged theme Royal Wedding? Our friends over at Sugared & Spiced say

"Bunting and all things British are very popular right now. I can just imagine a Royal Wedding with a contemporary take on the whole vintage theme incorporating an Eco-Friendly element to it.

Prince William is known for his championing of all things Green so I would expect to see this incorporated into elements of the day from wedding favours to table decorations.

I can also see the young contemporary couple bucking the trend in some small way though I am sure Royal protocol will keep a pretty tight hold on what they do."

What do you think they will go for?

New Takes on Old Traditions - The Best Man

The Best Man

More and more grooms are opting for 'Best Men' rather than a singular Best Man. This often solves the problem when a groom has a number of good friends to choose from and the way in which he can include them all in his big day is by giving each of them one of the tasks normally performed by a singular Best Man. So for example one friend will take on the role of handing over the rings during the ceremony itself. Another will then give the speech during the wedding breakfast while another will be tasked with escorting the Chief Bridemaid during the day and the wedding breakfast (lucky so and so).

Father of the Groom

Another popular option is for the Groom to have his Father as his Best Man, often the Father of the Groom gets a little forgotten during the big day so this is a great way to bring him to the forefront again. Of course, this could then be combined with the idea above so that you then have another Best Man who escorts your Chief Bridesmaid and may or may not give a speech.

A Best Woman

Of course, there is nothing to say you have to have a Man as your 'Best Man' there are many occasions where a groom chooses to have a lady as his right hand 'man' on his big day!

Do you have any other interesting ideas for new takes on the role of the Best Man? Comment us!

Latest Venue Decoration Trends

Vary Your Centre Pieces

You can very easily add interest to the overall look of your wedding reception venue by varying your centre pieces. This can be done by varying the colours of your displays - but stick with the same hues or by varying the height and design of the display (I would then stick with the same colours). It gives you a less uniformed look but retains the co-ordination and design.

Coloured Table Linen

Sometimes we are a little afraid of colour but there are ways of injecting colour into your venue to suit the bold and the less so! If you are bold and it suits your personalities why not go the whole hog and use coloured table linen. There are an array of colours available and you can go for the matt look of poly cotton or something with a bit of a shine.

If that is just a step too far, then you may want to consider using coloured table runners. You can use one table runner across each table, either all the same colour or alternate your tables using 2 colours. Or use 2 x table runners per table, one of each colour. This really can look wonderful.

Coloured Glassware

Coloured glassware looks stunning - though not necessarily a budget option there are companies out there who hire out coloured wine glasses if your venue is unable to accommodate this request. Generally speaking venues cater for the masses so they usually can only provide clear glass but it is worth asking them though they will undoubtedly charge extra for the service.

Candy Bars

These are popping up all over now. Just make sure you keep an eye on any little ones because you can bet your last pound that if you can't find them, they will be at the candy bar! Some couples are even putting the candy bar on the tables themselves as part of the table decoration. Take this example here by Red Floral Architecture - could you stop yourself from nibbling? I couldn't!

Crystals

Crystals are becoming more and more popular - they give a feeling of luxury and opulence and reflect the light so beautifully and with subtlety. I am a huge personal fan of crystals and candlight - put the two together and I am in heaven!

Personally I think crystals are set to become even bigger and more prominent at all ends of the wedding market - watch this space.

And that's it from me for now - if you can think of anything you would like to add - why not comment - I'd love to hear them!

Diamonds are a girl's best friend! So put some on your table!

I love these diamond cut tealight holders. They are multi-faceted so when the candle flickers the light reflects off all the different cut surfaces creating a really pretty atmosphere.

Decorate your guests tables with 3 or 5 of these (remember to be candle safe) and you will create a really romantic dreamy atmosphere in your venue.

Available to buy for £3.25 + p&p each or why not hire them from Mrs2Be Hire for just £1.95 each (with candle) + delivery/collection. Contact me for more information and to check availability.

Get Inspired for your Wedding

There are some wonderful wedding magazines out there, 2 of our favourites being Wedding Ideas and You and Your Wedding. But there are so many other places you can look to get inspiration for your wedding day.

House Magazines

I know it sounds odd - but the fact is that house magazines are a great place to get ideas about colour schemes. They focus heavily on interior design as well as themes so check them out for ideas.

Blogs

I know I may sound bias - seeing as I blog - but believe me when I tell you there are some wonderful blogs out there! Many wedding planners blog - and even if you are not using their services they are great for getting inspiration! Two of my personal favourites are http://www.littlewhitebookblog.blogspot.com/ and http://blog.bohoweddingsandevents.com/

Websites

Yes, yes - I know this really sounds biased by now - but I don't mind admitting there are other wedding planning websites out there as well as Mrs2Be.com that are worth a look! They really are great for inspiration and ideas. Our wedding colour scheme pages get a lot of visits so be sure to check them out!

Wedding Photographers

Wedding photographers nearly always have a gallery page - so check them out - there will be some great ideas amongst them so be sure to bookmark the images you like.

Have Your Cake & Eat It!

This is a great way to save money without compromising on quality or design by combining your wedding cake with your wedding favours and your table place settings all at the same time!

There are some beautiful individual wedding cakes available which come boxed and decorated such as the one seen here by Flissy Cakes of Altrincham. Firstly speak to your cake supplier about your colour scheme and theme etc. Flissy Cakes will 'computer colour match' your cake colour so that it matches your wedding colour scheme perfectly. Then ask them to supply the individual cakes boxed and decorated. Add a label or tag with the name of each guest on and place the cake on your tables.

Not only will they taste gorgeous but they will look beautiful and fulfil a role! Only problem is - they look too good to eat!

Surprise from a Soldier!

A soldier on leave from service in Afghanistan has surprised his girlfriend by popping the big question to her in a church yard and then marrying her there and then!

Colin Dawson is said to have organised the wedding via e mail. His girlfriend knew nothing about it and in fact thought that they were simply going out for lunch. On the way to 'lunch', Mr Dawson insisted that they stop at the church yard to visit a grave of a relative. Instead, Colin turned to her and said that he wanted her to marry him right then and there in the church.

Mrs2Be loves this story, and we love that the planning was done by the Groom for a change!
