Royles Venue Dressers who were based in Cheshire were forced to close for business during the early part of 2010 due to the pressures that the current economic climate has put onto the wedding industry.Nicky of Sugared and Spiced Venue Dressers says "Couples are being forced to search for the absolute cheapest price for the services they require on their big day and the corporate market has tightened its purse strings by cutting back on the number of events they would normally host in a year. Hopefully as the economy improves this situation will change, but certainly for the time being, it is a very very competitive market place."
Royles have taken action to ensure their clients are still looked after but it certainly highlights that there are certain steps couples should take to give themselves as much protection as possible. Our top tips would be:
- Pay for as much as you can on your credit card which you then pay off as this gives you insurance should the company you pay not deliver the goods or service you have paid for.
- Get everything in writing, your order confirmation, your payment confirmation, the price and exactly what they are providing you with.
- Wherever possible go of recommendations from others who have used the service previously.
- Take out wedding insurance to cover any unforseen circumstances that may arise though check your policy documents very carefully to ensure you are fully covered. Do some research online about the insurance company you intend to use.
